History of Cache River Valley Seed Company
The business was established in 1961 by J.E. McAlister and L.E. McAlister as a family-owned agriculture service business called McAlister Seed Service. They purchased the rice mill located at Cash, Arkansas, owned by River Brand Rice Mills and stripped the plant, converting it to a new seed processing and storage plant.
Originally, all seed for the plant was produced from the farms operated by the two brothers. They added the chemical and fertilizer sales in 1963 and also established a crop dusting service in 1963 to augment the chemical and fertilizer business.
In 1972, J.E. McAlister became sole owner of the business and changed the name to Cache River Valley Development Corp. At this time contract seed growers were added to meet the needs of increased seed sales. Randy Woodard joined the firm in 1973 as a partner and together they continued to increase sales and new construction until the present. Our name changed to Cache River Valley Seed, LLC in 1997.
